Events at DISP

DISP hosts and sponsors many events for students, scholars, faculty and staff at the International Center and around campus. Please visit our Calendar to see events for the entire semester.

Our weekly Coffee Hour is held every Wednesday from 2-4 pm in the International Center, Student Union, Room 307. Stop by and enjoy a cup of coffee and sample from desserts and snacks. Come meet new friends, enjoy good food and stay for new entertainment and workshops each week.

The International Women's Group brings women together from all over the world to help them meet the challenges of their new life in Storrs and to make their U.S. experience a rewarding one. Members participate in discussions, demonstrations, plan trips and share food. Children and guests are welcome. The first meeting will be held on Thursday, January 29, from 5-7 pm in the Student Union, Room 307. The group will meet monthly. For more information, e-mail laurie.tompkins@uconn.edu. Workshops and Orientations are held year round for international students, scholars and faculty on life in the USA, UConn Academic policies and the procedures to apply for Practical Training.

WorldFest is an annual celebration sponsored by DISP to celebrate the diverse cultural, linguistic, ethnic and religious backgrounds that UConn's international students, scholars, faculty and staff bring to our campus. Traditional costumes and food, dancing, singing and prizes make for a very fun, very international day.
